Hippo Pride – 11 Team Members Are Now Committers To Apache Software Foundation

And, the partnership that we have with our developer community has helped us to innovate a powerful context aware web content management platform. Hippo has already long been proud of our history of technology leadership - and this is why we are particularly proud of the fact that Hippo now has 11 of our team members that are committers within the Apache Software foundation.

Bart van der Schans, our head of infrastructure became an Apache Jackrabbit committer. And, in January 2012 Mohammad Nour El-Din will join Hippo, who is already an Apache committer. This will make for a total of 11 Hippo developers that are actively contributing to various Apache Projects.

The Apache Software Foundation oversees nearly one hundred and fifty leading Open Source projects, including Apache HTTP Server – the world’s most popular Web server software. There are approximately 3,000 committers in the foundation that all collaborate to develop freely available enterprise-grade software that benefits millions of users worldwide.

We’ve been working on some amazing projects in conjunction with the Apache Software Foundation – including the Apache Rave project - a new Web and Social mash up engine. Our CTO Arje Cahn – also an Apache Committer recently wrote about the Rave project on his blog. Of course – it’s not just Apache Committers working at Hippo. We have enthusiastic people from all kinds of disciplines (marketing, social media, project management, customer service, sales and finance) working on the realization and maintenance of Hippo’s CMS and Portal software.
