For Hippo – The Awards Just Keep Coming

Hippo, the company setting new standards for how Java Open Source Web Content Management empowers audiences and changes the way organizations manage Web content, announced today that they have been recently honored with two awards.

At the recent Erik Hartman event “Tools No Fools”, Hippo was proud to win the prize of “Content Tool Idol 2011”.   A jury of analysts and content management professionals served as critics, and the audience ultimately awarded the prize to Hippo.  The jury consisted of analysts Tony Byrne of Real Story Group, Janus Boye of J.Boye, and Martin White – Managing Director of Intranet Focus.

Hippo CTO Arje Cahn, who gave the award-winning demonstration, said “it’s a special honor to be in front of the extremely talented and critical eye of this jury, and to ultimately be recognized by the audience.   This particular award speaks to our continued focus on constant innovation and our ability to set the standard for successful Web content management.”

In addition to the Hippo product winning awards, Hippo is also proud to announce that work with an important client is also a nominee for another award.   Hippo is a nominee for the Computable Awards 2011 for its work with the Dutch Libraries.   The Computable Awards are awarded by a five-person jury and are awarded to companies, projects and individuals where the work with technology has clearly been distinguished.  You can read more about the awards here

“We’re extremely proud to be nominated for our work with the Dutch Libraries,” said Jeroen Verberg, CEO of Hippo. “To be recognized by the jury for helping the Dutch Library to empower their audience to get faster, easier and more efficient access to content is a testament to our mission.”

The Dutch Libraries project is particularly innovative as the new WCMS provides unprecedented access to Library content.   All of the approximately 160 base public libraries representing the 1,000 branches can now access the entire, centralized repository for a single CMS instance.   Using completely open standards, each library can utilize any authoring system they choose.  Standard integrations for Drupal and Joomla are provided – but anything is supported because the entire repository is available via a REST API interface.  It’s truly an “open content” strategy.  You can read more about the Dutch Libraries case study here
