Avans School for Higher Education aims for more students with new website
Several studies have appointed Avans as the best University of Applied Aciences in the Netherlands for years in a row. The site, however, invariably ended in the lower regions. With the new site Avans has aspirations to be in the top 3. With the advanced course finder future students can find information on the areas of their interest, type (bachelor, associate degree, master), location (Breda, Den Bosch, Tilburg), hours (full-time, part-time, dual) and language. The course information as it appears on the website is extracted from Hodex, an open standard to capture and publish information about courses, institutions and events. The principle of single source publishing makes it easy to manage the content efficiently and the data integrity is guaranteed.
The base of the site is formed by the latest version of Hippo CMS 7.7. This open source content management system provides great flexibility and ease of use in the management of the site and allows the user to easily combine the various communication resources and publish the information through various channels such as the website, intranet, mobile & social media like twitter or Facebook. Agile Scrum being the main methodologies used in this project, HintTech, Crossing Channels and Dayon managed to deliver the website within three months. Where joint action by the three parties ensures a combination of content and technology expertise, also the intensive collaboration with the IT department and marketing department of Avans contributed to the success of the project.
