Hippo Chalks Up New Experiences For University

Hippo, the company setting new standards for how Open Source Web Content Management can empower audiences and change the way organizations manage Web content announced today a new customer win in the higher education market. Hippo has been well established in the higher education arena, providing specialized solutions for the last 10 years.

The University of Amsterdam has recently selected Hippo CMS to power their Web site – and is currently implementing the solution for a launch later this year.

UvA joins others such as the University of Southern California, the Dutch Libraries and the Dutch National Goverment in using Hippo CMS technology to provide a more cost-effective and powerful way of managing their content.

“Today’s University content platform is more than just a web site,” said Jeroen Verberg, CEO of Hippo. “With the explosion of mobile and social usage, students need complete and easy access to University content such as tuition information, scholarships and other University services. And Hippo CMS is a perfect fit.  Our solutions provide these institutions with an open platform that is immediately interoperable with online learning, registration and other applications they may already have running. And, providing new interfaces like mobile and social becomes much easier.”

An example of this is the University of Southern California which has been using the software of Hippo for a few years. The university has completely integrated its back-office functions and established an Intranet portal for administrators and students. It’s resulted in much faster and easier content management, as well as access to the information.
