Capgemini and Hippo congratulate Dutch Police for winning the "Best Website of the Year" award


Politie.nl (Website of the Dutch Police) has been chosen as Best Website of the Year and as both best and most popular government website. The award ceremony was organised by Emerce.

The Website of the Year election is the biggest online prize awarded by the public and honors the best Dutch websites. For this year’s fifteenth edition over 823.000 votes were registered.  

Program Director Communications of the Dutch Police, Ron de Milde is very proud: “The fact that the public has voted for us, makes this award really special.’

“This public award is a wonderful recognition from our website users. It celebrates the common effort that we as Capgemini, together with the Police and all other partners put into this. We are not just proud of this recognition and the achievements of the team, but also of the fact this website contributes significantly to fighting crime", says Gert-Jan Gerrits, Account Executive Public Order and Safety at Capgemini.

“This award shows that the strategy of Politie.nl works. Listening to the public and quickly acting upon their input is now rewarded. I am very proud that such a large online government environment can develop so quickly with Hippo CMS”, says Tjeerd Brenninkmeijer, CMO of Hippo.

“Hippo CMS is based on open source and open standards. This makes knowledge sharing very easy for all Hippo users. We therefore also owe this success to our other clients we work together with very closely such as Autodesk, Couchbase, Mailchimp, Randstad, the National Health Service, 1&1 Internet, Bugaboo and Weleda.

Improvements
The past year a lot of work was invested in making the website even better. Online-reporting for example became easier and police officers started sharing their work stories via a blog. Around 2 million people a month visit Politie.nl.
