Highlighting the undeniable shift in consumer behavior driven by AI, the survey found the majority of respondents have used ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar AI tools to help them shop online. Further, more than half of respondents have found their search habits becoming more conversational over the past 12 months \u2014 a notable change from a historical reliance on keywords.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have known for some time that AI would fundamentally change the way consumers approach online shopping, but it\u2019s now clear we\u2019re no longer talking about the future \u2014 we\u2019re talking about the <em>now<\/em>,\u201d said Raj De Datta, co-founder and CEO, Bloomreach. \u201cConsumers have new expectations for online shopping\u2026it\u2019s up to brands to meet them where they are or risk falling behind.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How AI Has Transformed Consumer Behavior<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The majority of respondents (61%) have used general purpose AI tools like ChatGPT or Gemini to help them shop online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than 66% of respondents were at least somewhat familiar with AI assistants built specifically for shopping, such as Amazon\u2019s Rufus, with 57% having used one in the past 6 to 9 months.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amazon\u2019s Rufus, launched in September 2024, may have had a large impact on respondents\u2019 understanding of AI shopping assistants \u2014 42% of respondents said they became aware of these kinds of tools within the last year.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Half of respondents said they would be more likely to use an AI assistant if it knew preferences such as size or style and used that data to personalize responses and recommendations.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Respondents cited time savings as the biggest benefit of AI shopping assistants, followed by easier navigation and better product recommendations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How AI Has Influenced Ecommerce Search Habits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over the past 12 months, 54% of survey respondents felt their search habits becoming more conversational, incorporating more natural language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More than a third said they search ecommerce sites using questions (i.e. \u201cWhat do I wear to a black-tie wedding as a 20-year-old woman?\u201d).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As their search habits have begun to change, 93% of respondents said it is important that ecommerce site search understands conversational queries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"535\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomreach.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1200x627px-LinkedIn-Conversational-Research-Press-Release-Stats-Black-@2x-1-1024x535.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57763\" style=\"width:553px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bloomreach.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1200x627px-LinkedIn-Conversational-Research-Press-Release-Stats-Black-@2x-1-1024x535.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.bloomreach.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1200x627px-LinkedIn-Conversational-Research-Press-Release-Stats-Black-@2x-1-300x157.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bloomreach.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1200x627px-LinkedIn-Conversational-Research-Press-Release-Stats-Black-@2x-1-768x401.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bloomreach.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1200x627px-LinkedIn-Conversational-Research-Press-Release-Stats-Black-@2x-1-1536x803.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.bloomreach.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/1200x627px-LinkedIn-Conversational-Research-Press-Release-Stats-Black-@2x-1-2048x1070.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Methodology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An online survey was conducted from January 29-February 6,2025 with N=1,007 U.S. adults aged 18-50.
