More languages, even better than before. Now you can searchandize in Chinese, Japanese and Korean!<\/p>\n

In times of globalization, many companies do business worldwide. Especially in B2B, Manufacturers and Distributors often offer their products and services in many countries, serving a variety of languages. And the APAC region is of great importance.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why we\u2019re excited to roll out additional language support – Chinese, Japanese and Korean (CJK)!<\/strong><\/p>\n

All features that you know and love about Bloomreach Search, Merchandising and Recommendations are now supported for CJK as well.<\/p>\n

Easily add redirects, configure synonyms and create boost\/bury rules using CJK characters for attributes.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Bloomreach added stemmer support for Japanese and Korean:<\/p>\n

  • In Chinese, there is no concept of canonicals (ie: \u76d2\u5b50 can mean \u201cbox\u201d or \u201cboxes\u201d) so no stemming support was added for Chinese. <\/li>\n
  • Korean: “\uc0ac\uc774\ud074” is the stem for “\uc0ac\uc774\ud074\ub9c1”.<\/li>\n
  • Japanese: “\u30c9\u30e9\u30a4\u30d0” is the stem of “\u30c9\u30e9\u30a4\u30d0\u30fc”. Both mean \u201cdriver\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Also, Bloomreach added tokenization support:<\/p>\n

    • In English, queries are tokenized by spaces so we do tokenized matching word by word. In Chinese, there is no space between individual characters. For example, “\u65e0\u8896\u771f\u4e1d\u7f0e\u665a\u793c\u670d” is more likely to be tokenized to “\u65e0\u8896”, “\u771f\u4e1d”, “\u7f0e”, “\u665a\u793c\u670d”.<\/li>\n
    • Japanese: “\u30bf\u30af\u30b7\u30fc\u30c9\u30e9\u30a4\u30d0\u30fc” is tokenized to “\u30bf\u30af\u30b7\u30fc” and “\u30c9\u30e9\u30a4\u30d0\u30fc”.<\/li>\n
    • Korean: \u201c\uc800\uc7a5\ubc14\uad6c\ub2c8\u201d is tokenized to \u201c\uc800\uc7a5\u201d and \u201c\ubc14\uad6c\ub2c8\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
